Zone Impression: Southern Barrens

 

I’ve recently been leveling my Alliance Protection paladin in the Southern Barrens.  This is one of the zones in Cataclysm that has active Horde versus Alliance conflict as the central theme of the zone. Like the Redridge Mountains zone, it is a fairly active place with a series of events that is seen completely different by the factions involved.

Note: This reaction to the zone does have an Alliance bias. The Alliance character that went through Southern Barrens does not have access to the Horde faction quests. At this time I can only speak from the Alliance point of view.

Zone Impressions: Redridge Mountains

Gwendora’s first stop was at Goldshire. The troops from Stormwind patrolled the roads of Elwynn Forest more often.  In her early travels, she did simple recon missions. Goldshire became an active place to repair her equipment and drink a cold glass of milk. After skirmishes with Murlocs and Kobolds, she was sent out to Westfall.  After seeing the hardships of Westfall, she was called into action in Redridge Mountains.

 

Redridge Mountains is one of the two early Alliance leveling zones that have had its storyline advanced. For human Alliance players, you will have just finished the mystery quest line in Westfall after getting acquainted with Elwynn Forest and Stormwind. If you had to make a choice about which zone to fully complete as you level, I highly, highly recommend Redridge Mountain. The whole reason I say this is easily summed up in two words. Bravo Company.
